CNN: Vice President Kamala Harris holds a narrow edge over former President Donald Trump in the battleground prize of Pennsylvania, while Trump leads Harris in Arizona, according to new polling from the New York Times and Siena College. The Pennsylvania poll was co-sponsored by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
In Pennsylvania, Harris stands at 49% among likely voters to Trump’s 45% in a matchup including third-party candidates. It is the second recent high-quality poll to show Harris with a narrow edge in the state, while other polling from late September suggested a tighter contest. Harris’ edge rests on wide support from women there (57% back her, 39% Trump, compared with a 52% Trump to 41% Harris divide among men). A CNN Poll of Polls in Pennsylvania updated to include the new survey continues to show a slightly tighter race, with Harris’ support averaging 48% in the state to Trump’s 47%.
In Arizona, the survey finds Trump with 50% support among likely voters to 45% for Harris with third-party candidates included in the matchup. Here, although Harris holds wide leads with traditionally core Democratic groups such as younger voters (50% to 40% among voters younger than 30) and Latino voters (58% Harris to 38% Trump), Trump holds a wider lead among men (56% to 39%) than Harris does among women (51% to 44%).

Gov. Walz, who was at Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan, for a campaign stop, pointed to the loss of manufacturing jobs and the closure of several manufacturing plants under the Trump administration. The governor touted the record of Vice President Kamala Harris and their plan to grow the economy and bring manufacturing back to the country. He also spoke on the importance of union labor and said its essential to not only build electric vehicles, but gas-powered and hybrid vehicles as well for America’s auto manufacturers to remain competitive in the future.

She spoke on Israel’s right to defend itself, the need to release the hostages, and to stop 'the immense suffering of innocent Palestinians in Gaza.' Also delivering remarks was second gentleman Doug Emhoff. Upon the conclusion of their remarks, the vice president and second gentleman planted a pomegranate tree - a Jewish symbol of 'hope and righteousness' - on the grounds of the vice president’s residence as a reminder, 'not only of the horror of October 7, but the strength and the endurance of the Jewish people.'

'Because I don’t think she understands that there are a whole lot of women out here who one, are not aspiring to be humble. Two, a whole lot of women out here, who have a lot of love in their life, family in their life and children in their life, and I think it’s very important for women to lift each other up.'

CSPAN: Vice President Harris visited FEMA headquarters in Washington, DC to thank the staff for their work and get an update on federal response efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. While addressing the media, the vice president said she plans to travel to areas that were affected by the storm as soon as possible and promised the government would do everything it can to help rebuild no matter how long it takes.
CNN:Vice President Kamala Harris will end her West Coast campaign swing early and travel from Las Vegas to Washington, DC, on Monday morning to be briefed on the ongoing impacts of Hurricane Helene at the FEMA Headquarters, according to a White House official.
The vice president is expected to be briefed on the federal actions taken to support emergency response and recovery. It comes as the Southeast grapples with widespread devastation after Helene made landfall last Thursday as the strongest hurricane on record to slam into Florida’s Big Bend region. At least 100 people have been killed, with power knocked out for millions.
Day 71 - Harris campaigns in Las Vegas

Her remarks came with just 37 days until Election Day and as she held a 1.4-point advantage in the FiveThirtyEight polling average in the Silver State.
Day 70 - James Carville on a Harris opportunity, Amanda Carpenter on GOP endorsements
Politico: Excerpts from an interview with James Carville on the 2024 election. James Carville sees an advantage for Kamala Harris to exploit on an issue that is supposed to be Trump’s strength. It’s the economy, stupid.
But Trump came in and gave [her] a golden opportunity. Because he didn’t say, 'the economy is sluggish' or 'prices are too high. I’ll pick it up.' He said, 'You have nothing to lose. It’s awful. The whole thing has fallen apart. We’re going to start slapping tariffs on everything. We’re going to start deporting people.'
I think people do feel like they have something to lose. But he has moved the ball from 'Is it a good economy or a bad economy?' to an economy where you have nothing to lose. And that’s a big shift. Because you now are not burdened with trying to tell people it’s better than you think. You can just say, 'He thinks you have nothing to lose. I think you have something to gain. I think most of you feel like you’re pretty secure in your jobs. If you have a little bit in your IRA, you’ve got a little bit more now. You’ve got something to lose.'
And if she talks about it like that and keeps running loops of tape of [Trump saying], 'What the hell do you have to lose? It’s all falling apart,' I don’t think that’s a hard sell to tell people that you’ve got something to lose
Day 69 - Harris makes trip to Arizona and visits the southern border
CSPAN: 2024 Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris delivers remarks on border security and immigration at a campaign stop in Douglas, Arizona, while visiting the U.S.-Mexico border.
CNN: Vice President Kamala Harris went on the offensive against former President Donald Trump on immigration Friday during her visit to the southern border in Arizona as she tries to turn a political vulnerability on its head.
Immigration has featured prominently in the 2024 presidential election, with polls showing voters placing more trust in Trump to handle the issue than Harris.
Democrats, grappling with years of border crises, have tried to gain ground by pointing to the bipartisan border measure that congressional Republicans blocked earlier this year after Trump came out against it. Harris on Friday lambasted Trump for his role in stymying that bill.
'It was the strongest border security bill we have seen in decades. It was endorsed by the Border Patrol union. And it should be in effect today, producing results in real time, right now, for our country,' she said at a rally in Douglas, a town on the US-Mexico border.
'But Donald Trump tanked it. He picked up the phone and called some friends in Congress and said, ‘Stop the bill,’' she said. 'He prefers to run on a problem instead of fixing a problem. And the American people deserve a president who cares more about border security than playing political games and their personal political future.'

Day 68 - Harris meets with Zelensky, also speaks on combatting gun violence at White House
CSPAN: Vice president and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris said her support for Ukraine was 'unwavering' during remarks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Vice President’s Ceremonial Office near the White House. She stressed that Russia’s invasion of the country was not only an attack on the Ukrainian people but also an attack on 'fundamental principles such as sovereignty and territorial integrity.' She therefore stated that defending Ukraine was not an act of charity, but was in the United States' strategic interest. President Zelensky mentioned the newest military aid the U.S. had given to Ukraine and said it was a priority to 'keep pressure' on Russia in order to end the war.
CSPAN: President Biden signed an executive order on gun violence that focuses on improving school active shooter drills and deterring emerging firearm threats, such as machine gun conversion devices and 3D-printed guns. This took place following remarks by President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House. They were joined by Randall Woodfin, Mayor of Birmingham, Alabama (D), Sari Kaufman, survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting, members of Congress, and audience members impacted by gun violence.
Day 67 - Harris gives economics speech in Pittsburgh, gives interview on MSNBC
CSPAN: 'I will engage in what Franklin Roosevelt called bold, persistent experimentation,' 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris said when unveiling more details on her self-proclaimed 'opportunity economy.' Her agenda had three main parts: lowering costs, investing in American innovation, and leading the global economy. Her remarks came a day after former President Donald Trump said that if he were reelected, he intended to impose high tariffs on foreign products coming into the U.S. in an effort to bring manufacturing jobs back to the country. The Economic Club of Pittsburgh hosted the event. Vice President Harris held a one-point lead in the FiveThirtyEight polling average for Pennsylvania on the day this event was held, and the three most recently released polls had her and her Republican rival, former President Trump, tied.
MSNBC: In an exclusive on MSNBC, Vice President and Democratic Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris joins MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for her first one-on-one network interview since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee. Day 66 - Harris has a challenge - reassembling the Biden Georgia coalition
CSPAN: Rebel Teahouse is in Decatur, in reliably blue suburban DeKalb County just outside Atlanta. It is one of the places that helped Biden to his stunning, razor-thin 2020 Georgia win and is now a key test of whether Harris can assemble a similar winning coalition.
That formula begins with giant support – and turnout – among Black Americans. But other voters of color are also critical: In 2020, voters of color made up 39% of the Georgia presidential electorate, and Biden won 81% support of that vote. That lopsided margin helped Biden win the state, by fewer than 12,000 votes, even though Trump won 69% among White voters.
In a CNN poll released Tuesday, Harris was well ahead of Trump among Black (79% support) and Latino (59%) likely voters, but still trailed Biden’s winning percentages with those groups in 2020 – 87% and 65%, respectively.
Day 65 - Nebraska state senator will not support changing election law
CNN: A pressure campaign from Donald Trump and Republican allies to change Nebraska election law was dealt a significant setback Monday as a pivotal state senator said he would not support overturning a law that awards electoral votes by congressional district, rather than statewide winner-take-all.
State Sen. Mike McDonnell of Omaha said in a statement Monday that he would not vote to change the law in Nebraska before the November election.
'After deep consideration, it is clear to me that right now, 43 days from Election Day, is not the moment to make this change,' McDonnell said. 'I have notified Governor Pillen that I will not change my long-held position and will oppose any attempted changes to our electoral college system before the 2024 election.'
McDonnell was seen as one of the last best hopes from Republicans to change the law before November. He made clear that he had no interest in supporting a change so close to the election.
'Nebraska voters, not politicians of either party, should have the final say on how we pick a President,' McDonnell said.
Day 64 - Harris attends fundraiser in New York
CNN: Vice President Kamala Harris raised $27 million during a Sunday fundraiser in New York, the largest amount raised from a single event since she entered the race for president, according to a campaign official.
Harris, speaking to reporters on the tarmac after landing back in Washington, DC, said she believes the high numbers show support for her campaign.
Day 63 - Walz campaigns in Pennsylvania, Harris accepts October 23rd debate invite
CSPAN: 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz (MN) campaigned at a rally in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He spoke about issues such as reproductive freedom and finding solutions to mass shootings. Moreover, he addressed the unfounded claim that Haitian immigrants ate pets in Springfield, Ohio, which was repeated by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (OH). Gov. Walz also remarked on newly discovered comments allegedly made by North Carolina gubernatorial nominee Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R) on a pornographic website, in particular Mr. Robinson referring to himself as a 'Black Nazi.'

Day 62 - Harris campaigns in Georgia and Wisconsin
CSPAN: 'This is a healthcare crisis, and Donald Trump is the architect of this crisis,' 2024 Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris said during a campaign event in Atlanta focused on reproductive rights. 'How dare he.' Vice President Harris also called on the audience to remember Amber Thurman, a Georgia woman who died after being denied a dilation and curettage procedure under Georgia’s anti-abortion laws. The vice president’s visit came as reports surfaced of two women, Ms. Thurman and Candi Miller, who died while seeking reproductive healthcare under Georgia’s six-week abortion ban. On the day of these remarks, Vice President Harris’s Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, had a 1.1 point lead in the state, according to poll aggregator FiveThirtyEight.
Day 61 - Harris attends online rally hosted by Oprah Winfrey, Walz speaks to Business Roundtable
CNN: Vice President Kamala Harris sought to capitalize on the star power of Oprah Winfrey and a host of Hollywood celebrities to help her win over persuadable voters during an online rally Thursday night that ranged from participants’ searing accounts of personal loss and trauma to the Democrat’s unguarded remark about her own gun ownership.
During the 'Unite for America' event in Michigan, Harris also reflected on the change that Winfrey said she and others had observed in the vice president once she became the Democratic Party’s standard-bearer.
'It seems to us that something happened to you the moment Joe Biden, President Biden, stepped aside and withdrew his candidacy, that a veil or something dropped, and you just stepped into your power,' Winfrey said.
'We each have those moments in our lives where it’s time to step up,' Harris responded, adding that she felt a 'sense of purpose,' given the stakes of November’s election.

CNN: The International Brotherhood of Teamsters declined to endorse a presidential candidate on Wednesday after releasing internal polling that showed a majority of its members supported former President Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris.
It’s the first time in nearly three decades that the union has not endorsed a presidential candidate.
'Unfortunately, neither major candidate was able to make serious commitments to our union to ensure the interests of working people are always put before Big Business,' Teamsters President Sean O’Brien said in a statement. 'We sought commitments from both Trump and Harris not to interfere in critical union campaigns or core Teamsters industries – and to honor our members’ right to strike – but were unable to secure those pledges.'
Day 59 - Harris speaks at NABJ panel, Walz campaigns in Georgia and North Carolina
CSPAN: 2024 Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris participated in a conversation with members of the National Association of Black Journalists. Topics included the U.S. economy, her message to young Black male voters, and the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. Vice President Harris also described the impact on the Springfield, Ohio, community as a 'crying shame' following evacuations at its city hall and local schools due to a threat to the community. The town had been in the spotlight following comments during a recent presidential debate by former President Donald Trump in which he said immigrants were eating cats and dogs. The conversation was hosted by Philadelphia NPR and PBS affiliate WHYY.

Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien told reporters they discussed the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act and 'how important it is to veto a national right to work,' and they emphasized the diversity of views among his members after the meeting with the vice president.
'We represent everybody from airline pilots and zookeepers, and we don’t just represent registered Democrats,' O’Brien told reporters.
When asked whether his union was ready to make an endorsement, O’Brien said, 'we have credible research and information to make a decision' but would not commit to an endorsement timeline.
Day 57 - FBI investigates apparent assassination attempt on Trump at his golf club in Florida
CNN: The FBI said it 'is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination' of Donald Trump at his Florida golf club, just two months after an attempt to kill the Republican presidential nominee at a Pennsylvania rally.
The former president was not harmed.
Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old owner of a small construction company in Hawaii, has been detained in connection with Sunday’s incident, according to three law enforcement sources.
Here’s what happened:
Gunshots during golf: Trump was moving between holes five and six at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach with donor Steve Witkoff when gunshots went off. The golf game was a last-minute addition to Trump’s schedule, sources said.
Secret Service spots a rifle: A Secret Service agent spotted a rifle barrel sticking out of a fence and agents fired at a man in the bushes along the perimeter, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw. Bradshaw said his office was alerted at 1:30 p.m. ET that the Secret Service had fired gunshots. The person was 300 to 500 yards away from Trump, an official said. The suspect then fled in a car.
Witness spots a man in the bushes: A witness saw the suspect run from the bushes and took a picture of his car that led to the suspect’s apprehension.
Highway chase: Police flooded Interstate 95 before stopping the suspect’s car and detaining him. The suspect was not armed when law enforcement officials took him out of the car, and he has not made any statements. The person in custody is Routh, according to three law enforcement sources.
Evidence found in bushes: Law enforcement officials found an AK-47-style rifle with a scope; two backpacks that had ceramic tiles in them to augment a bulletproof vest; and a GoPro where the suspect was positioned. 'This whole set-up indicates a very high level of pre-planning,' former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe told CNN.
Mental health assessment: Investigators expect a federal court in South Florida will require 'a mental health assessment' of Routh before any possible criminal proceedings, a law enforcement source told CNN.

She also discussed her plans for the economy and support for small businesses. Pennsylvania, considered a battleground state in the 2024 general election, has been a frequent stop on the campaign trail for the vice president.

Day 54 - Harris-Walz appear at 9/11 remembrance events, more debate analysis on how Harris beat Trump
CSPAN: President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and former President Trump gathered in the audience alongside 9/11 survivors and families to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the 2001 attacks in New York City. Day 52 - Harris prepares to travel to Philadelphia for debate against Trump
CNN: Vice President Kamala Harris said that she predicts former president Donald Trump will lie during Tuesday’s debate and expects him to attack her racial and gender identity.
Harris said in an interview on 'The Rickey Smiley Morning Show' released Monday that she is preparing for Trump to 'speak a lot of untruths' and to attack her personally during Tuesday’s debate, pointing to the 'tired playbook' of attacks he’s thrown at her and others throughout his political career.
'There’s no floor for him in terms of how low he will go and — and we should be prepared for that. We should be prepared for the fact that he is not burdened by telling the truth, and we should be prepared for the fact that he’s probably going to speak a lot of untruths,' she said.
Harris specifically referenced Trump’s previous attacks on Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, suggesting he may invoke her identity as a Black woman during the debate.
'I think he’s gonna lie, and, you know, he has a playbook that he has used in the past, be it, you know, his attacks on President Obama or Hillary Clinton. So we should expect that some of that might come out,' she said.
Day 51 - Liz Cheney appears on ABC discussing her endorsement of Harris
CNN: Former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney on Sunday argued voting for former President Donald Trump or writing in a name in November is a decision to 'abandon the Constitution.'
Cheney said in an interview on ABC News’ 'This Week' that too many elected Republicans have reduced the 2024 race to a 'partisan choice” — but “that’s not what we’re facing this time around.'
The onetime Republican leader, who said last week that she’ll vote for Vice President Kamala Harris, said she’s been 'voting for 40 years. My first vote I ever cast was for Ronald Reagan in 1984. I’ve never voted for a Democrat.'
Asked whether she’d be able to endorse Harris if Harris still promoted the same policy positions as in 2019, Cheney said the vice president has 'changed in a number of very important ways on issues that matter' since she first ran for president.
'And I would encourage independents to look at where she is on these policy issues today. I would encourage independents to compare where she is today with where Donald Trump is on these issues,' Cheney added.
The former Wyoming congresswoman argued that Trump isn’t a conservative, pointing to his global tariffs proposal.
Day 50 - Walz speaks at Human Rights Campaign dinner in Washington DC
CSPAN: 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee Governor Tim Walz (MN) spoke at the 2024 annual gala of the Human Rights Campaign, an LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, in Washington, DC. He discussed the support he and Vice President Kamala Harris had shown for the gay community over their years in politics and stated that this commitment would continue under a prospective Harris-Walz administration. Governor Walz’s remarks came as Vice President Harris was spending the weekend in Pittsburgh preparing for her first debate against her Republican rival, former President Donald Trump.
Day 49 - Harris-Walz campaign picks up endorsements
CNN: The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) on Friday announced it was endorsing former president Donald Trump ahead of Trump’s scheduled speech later in the day to the group’s board in Charlotte, North Carolina. The group, which describes itself as the nation’s oldest and largest police labor organization, endorsed Trump in 2016 and 2020.
Day 48 - Walz holds rally in Erie, Pennsylvania
CSPAN: At a campaign rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz (MN) said that he and Vice President Harris want to build an 'opportunity economy' for all Americans and that their policies would benefit 'red' and 'blue' states, big cities and small towns. He also addressed the school shooting the previous day in Georgia. He noted that as a dad, coach, and former high school teacher, back-to-school is 'a time of hope, excitement' but for those children, back-to-school would always be 'sheer terror.' The governor mentioned that his son, Gus, is a high school senior and the children killed at Sandy Hook in 2012 should also be seniors.
Day 47 - Harris campaigns in New Hampshire, Walz joins bus tour in Pennsylvania
CSPAN: 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris opened her remarks at a campaign event in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, by responding to a high school shooting in Georgia that killed four and injured multiple others. She called the shooting a senseless tragedy, adding, 'it’s just outrageous that every day ... parents have to send their children to school worried about whether or not their child will come home alive. ... we’ve got to stop it.' The campaign stop in New Hampshire came as her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), campaigned in Pennsylvania.
CSPAN: 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee Governor Tim Walz (MN) campaigned on a bus tour across Pennsylvania, including stops in Lancaster. While he was there, he stopped at a campaign office and answered calls with potential voters.
Day 46 - Harris-Walz campaign kicks off reproductive rights bus tour in Palm Beach County
Palm Beach Post: The top Harris-Walz campaign official, the chair of the national Democratic Party and four members of Congress gathered here Tuesday morning, Sept. 3, to kick off a bus tour intended to magnify their differences on abortion with Republican Donald Trump and his recent back-and-forth on the issue.
'For the next few months, we will be traveling across the country, going community to community, to make sure every voter understands what's on the line for our reproductive rights in this election,' said Harris-Walz campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez. 'And we're kicking off here in Trump's backyard.

Day 45 - Walz campaigns in Milwaukee, Harris campaigns in Detroit
Detroit Free Press: Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris promoted the 'power of unity' during a Labor Day speech Monday in Detroit, vowing to fight for a future where every worker has 'the freedom to organize.
Surrounded by national union leaders inside Northwestern High School, Harris, the current vice president, said she wants to enact new legal protections for labor. When unions are strong, America is strong, Harris said during a 15-minute address.
'Everywhere I go, I tell people, 'Look, you may not be a union member, you better thank a union member for the five-day work week,' Harris told the crowd. You better thank a union member for sick leave. You better thank a union member for paid leave. You better thank a union member for vacation time.
'Because what we know is when union wages go up, everybody’s wages go up.'
CSPAN: 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) campaigned at Milwaukee’s Laborfest in Wisconsin. The governor spoke to supporters after his motorcade was involved in an accident. He was not injured but confirmed minor staff injuries and thanked local first responders for their quick actions. The nominee also talked about the Harris-Walz administration policy plans if elected, which include lowering taxes and ensuring paid family and medical leave. The governor’s campaign event in Wisconsin came as Vice President Harris campaigned in Michigan and in Pennsylvania with President Biden. Other speakers included Milwaukee U.S. Representative Gwen Moore (D), Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers (D), Senator Tammy Baldwin (D), and Rich Kangas from Ironworkers Local 8.
CSPAN: 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris campaigned in Detroit on Labor Day where she celebrated unions, which she said built America. She also compared her vision for the future to former President Donald Trump’s vision, who she said is focused on the past. Her stop in Michigan was part of a stretch of campaign events across key battleground states including Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The event in Detroit came a week before the first scheduled presidential debate between the vice president and the former president.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, making their first joint campaign appearance since last month’s Democratic National Convention, marked Labor Day in Pittsburgh as they wooed a crucial constituency for the fall election — union members.
'This election is, as much as anything else, a fight for the promise of America,' Ms. Harris said against a backdrop of union members holding signs reading 'Labor for Harris Walz' and 'Union Strong.'
'It is one of the highest forms of patriotism to fight for the ideals of our country,' she added.
CSPAN: 2024 Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris was joined by President Biden at a Labor Day campaign rally at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #5 training facility in Pittsburgh. The president spoke about why he believed former President Donald Trump could pose a threat to labor unions should he be reelected. Vice President Harris responded to an audience member shouting that former President Donald Trump is “going to jail,” saying “the courts will handle that, and we will handle November.” The joint campaign event came with just eight days until the first televised debate between Harris and Trump, the Republican residential nominee.
Day 44 - Walz campaigns at Minnesota State Fair
MPR News: Gov. Tim Walz campaigned at the Minnesota State Fair on Sunday.
Like a lot of visitors to the fair, the Democratic vice presidential nominee went straight for the food. He bought a pork chop at Peterson's Chicken N Chops.
'I’m so happy I got a day out here,' he said.
The Walz drop-in was starkly different than his other fair visits over the years. There was immense security — from steel-barriers to a large presence of law enforcement— given his new national status. He couldn’t freely roam the fairgrounds and passersby were largely kept at a distance. Walz did serve ice cream and mingle with people and workers already in the dairy building.
Day 43 - Harris rebukes Trump for cemetery visit
CNN: Donald Trump on Saturday continued to defend his visit this week to Arlington National Cemetery amid mounting criticism, including from Vice President Kamala Harris, who said the former president 'is unable to comprehend anything other than service to himself.'
Veterans, service members and their families 'should be honored, never disparaged, and treated with nothing less than our highest respect and gratitude,' Harris wrote Saturday in a lengthy post on social media. 'And it is my belief that someone who cannot meet this simple, sacred duty should never again stand behind the seal of the President of the United States of America.'
As Vice President, I have had the privilege of visiting Arlington National Cemetery several times. It is a solemn place; a place where we come together to honor American heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of this nation.

Day 42 - Trump flip-flops on Florida abortion amendment, Harris announces bus tour to advocate for women’s reproductive rights
CNN: The Harris campaign has announced the launch of a bus tour to advocate for women’s reproductive rights, which remains a key issue ahead of November.
The 'Fighting for Reproductive Freedom' bus tour will kick off on Tuesday in Palm Beach, Florida, and include Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Harris-Walz campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez and CNN Senior Political Commentator Ana Navarro.
The bus tour will make at least 50 stops in key battleground states to highlight the contrasts between Harris and Donald Trump’s stance on reproductive freedom. It will feature elected officials, celebrities and Republicans for the Harris-Walz ticket.
CNN: Donald Trump said Friday that he will not support a ballot referendum to expand abortion access in his home state of Florida just 24 hours after suggesting he might.
The rush to clarify his stance followed intense blowback from anti-abortion advocates online, leading to concerns among Republicans that Trump’s continued waffling on abortion might lose him some deeply religious voters in a tightening race.
The episode marked the latest illustration of Trump straining to navigate the new era of post-Roe politics that he helped create.

Day 41 - Harris, Walz give interview to CNN, Harris holds rally in Savannah GA, more backlash for Trump on ANC visit
Savannah Morning News: Savannah's Enmarket Arena was a sea of red, white and blue, with sprinkles of pink and green Thursday evening.
In what has been the first major presidential candidate visit to Savannah since the 1980s, Vice President Kamala Harris capped off a bus tour of Savannah and surrounding areas with a near-capacity rally.
Harris delivered a speech that largely followed her typical rally topics ― creating an 'opportunity economy,' attacking Project 2025 and advocating for reproductive rights ― to a crowd of more than 5,000 attendees, based on seats filled. As the speech neared its end, Harris acknowledged Georgia's major role in recent Democratic party successes: sending Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock to the Senate and President Joe Biden to the White House.
'You did that, and now we are asking you to do it again,' Harris said to a rush of applause.
CSPAN: 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris delivered remarks at a campaign rally in Savannah, Georgia. She called on Georgians to 'do it again' regarding mobilizing Democratic voters and electing Democratic leaders to the Senate and White House. In addition, Vice President Harris stopped her campaign speech and reacted to protesters in the crowd. 'I am speaking now, but on the subject, I will say this - the President and I are working around the clock. We have got to get a hostage deal done and get a ceasefire done now.' Other topics discussed included reproductive freedom, health care, and the economy.

Day 40 - Harris, Walz start bus tour in Georgia, Trump draws criticism for Arlington National Cemetery visit
First Coast News: Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, kicked off their latest bus tour through southeastern and coastal Georgia. This comes on the heels of the Democratic National Convention, where Harris officially became the democratic nominee for president.
Harris and Walz touched down in Savannah Wednesday afternoon. Their first stop on the bus tour was Liberty High School in Hinesville. Harris met with students and teachers, and were treated to a performance by the marching band.
Harris considers Georgia to be a battleground state. President Joe Biden narrowly won the state in 2020. According to the Harris campaign, winning southeast Georgia is crucial for keeping the state blue. The bus tour is part of her grassroots strategy to meet with voters face-to-face.
CNN: Former President Donald Trump’s campaign stirred new controversy this week during a visit to Arlington National Cemetery that was intended to draw attention to the chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.
An individual physically blocked Trump’s team from accompanying him during the Monday visit, two Trump campaign officials said. A cemetery spokesperson confirmed to CNN 'there was an incident' and a 'report was filed' but didn’t provide additional details.
CSPAN: 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz (MN) delivered remarks at the 57th International Association of Fire Fighters Convention in Boston. He promoted his and Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris' work that had impacted firefighters and unions. He also said a Harris-Walz presidency would strengthen unions, protect retirement benefits, lower taxes for “working families,” and make corporations 'pay their fair share' in taxes. He was introduced by Edward Kelly, general president of the International Association of Fire Fighters.
CSPAN; 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris and vice presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz (D) met with voters while on a bus tour of Georgia. They were greeted at the airport in Savannah, Georgia, by students from nearby Savannah State University, the oldest public historically Black university in the state. They then made their way to Liberty County High School, where they met with members of the school’s marching band and were greeted with a song. Their next stop was Sandfly Bar-B-Q in Savannah, where both nominees met with customers and workers. The bus tour was expected to last for two days across southeastern Georgia and mirrored an earlier bus tour the candidates completed in western Pennsylvania.
Day 39 - Harris releases new ads on housing costs and tax cuts
CNN: Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is up with another ad promoting her proposals to lower housing costs, the second new ad from the campaign that began airing today as part of a concerted effort to highlight the issue. 'My childhood, we were renters. My mother saved for well over a decade to buy a home. I was a teenager when that day finally came and I can remember so well, how excited she was. I know what home ownership means', Harris says in the ad. 'Sadly, right now it is out of reach for far too many American families.
Harris also touts her record as a prosecutor, saying that she “took on the big banks who exploited people in the housing market,” vowing to “fight for a law that cracks down” on abusive practices.
Harris promises to build 3 million new homes and rentals, saying, 'We should be doing everything we can to make it more affordable to buy a home.'
It’s the second ad that the Harris campaign has launched today emphasizing high costs of living. Earlier, the campaign went up with another minute-long ad detailing her plans.
And a third ad from the Harris campaign, produced earlier this week, also raises the issue of housing costs. 'We must create an opportunity economy where everyone has a chance to get a car loan, buy a home, start a business,' Harris says in a clip featured in the ad.
Day 38 - Harris raises over $540 million, debate continues over mics at debate

MSNBC: Donald Trump rambled and lied for over an hour without any follow up questions or fact-checking. MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell says that while he hopes Vice President Harris answers questions from reporters, after the press conference that Donald Trump turned into a 'charade,' Vice President Harris has 'absolutely no greater obligation to do so because of what Donald Trump pretended to do today.'
Day 19 - Harris and Walz campaign at UAW hall in Detroit, debate is on for September 10th, Trump melts down in "news conference" at Mar-A-Lago
Detroit Free Press: A day after firing up a boisterous crowd at a Detroit Metro Airport hangar, Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, rallied UAW members at a union hall described as ground zero for last year’s auto strike against the Detroit Three and the subsequent contract ratification. They preached a message of unity and highlighted their connections to union members and the union movement.

I look forward to it.
Huffington Post: Former President Donald Trump spoke for over an hour in a rambling news conference on Thursday, making dozens of false and outrageous claims in an effort to wrest the spotlight away from Vice President Kamala Harris’ surging 2024 presidential campaign.

Because he thinks auto workers are stupid,' United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain told members of the UAW Local 690 alongside 2024 Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris. Her pick for vice president, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), also spoke to members. Vice President Harris expressed her gratitude for the support of the UAW throughout the years and said that even those who are not a part of a union better 'thank unions' for five-day work weeks, an eight-hour workday, and vacation time. Remarks from the vice president and her running mate came following an official endorsement from the United Auto Workers.

The former president also said he agreed to debate Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris at three possible televised debates, including a reportedly confirmed debate between himself and Ms. Harris on ABC on September 10.

Day 18 - Harris and Walz campaign in Wisconsin, Michigan
CNN: Vice President Kamala Harris saw – and heard – at least a flavor of the challenges facing her candidacy in Michigan. Her Wednesday evening remarks in Detroit were interrupted by a small group of about half a dozen protestors who persistently chanted what appeared to be a pro-Palestinian message. 'Because we believe in democracy, everyone’s voice matters, but I am speaking now,' she responded, repeating a refrain she has previously used at events in response to protesters. She then tried to talk over the protests as the crowd chanted: 'Kamala! Kamala!' While railing against her rival’s agenda, Harris said, 'if you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, I’m speaking.' After a few minutes, the protesters were led out of the venue, where thousands had gathered to see Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Tim Walz (D-MN). It was the duo’s second day on the campaign trail, and their third stop together as running mates, part of a multi-day trip through swing states including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Arizona. Vice President Harris’s remarks were interrupted by protesters critical of U.S. support for Israel in its war against Hamas. During his remarks, Gov. Walz talked about how he and his wife, Gwen, used in vitro fertilization (IVF) technology to expand their family and about his support for abortion rights and access to fertility treatments.
CSPAN: Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance said he approached the motorcade to speak with Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris while their planes were on the same tarmac between campaign events in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He joked he 'wanted to check out my future plane,' then accused Harris of refusing to answer questions from the media.

The selection – which Harris personally delivered to Walz via a video call, according to a source familiar with the matter – caps the Midwestern Democrat’s short but swift ascent from a relative unknown to a leading driver of the party’s attacks against the former president and the MAGA agenda.
When I called @Tim_Walz this morning to ask him to join our campaign, I shared my deep level of respect for him and the work we've done together.

Heading into a weekend of interviews at the Naval Observatory with running mate prospects for a choice that will shape her campaign and the Democratic Party – and potentially her presidency and the country – she doesn’t have that luxury.
